about functions
Listen to functions
If you wish to, you can download the whole, fully ID3-tagged album as a zip-compressed folder. (53.3mb)
This lets you keep the music on your computer at any times and it enables you to transfer it directly to your mp3-player of choice.
You can, of course, listen to some single tracks from the album and consider if you‘d want to download the whole.

about a colorblind dig
“A colorblind dig” consists of
Lukas Henning (left) and Magnus Rook (right). (both ’92)
We’re both from southern germany, making music together since early 2006.
(basically since we play our own music in a band)
Lukas always was the “instruments guy” (guitars ‘n’ stuff) while Magnus is the only person able to make the drums sound sexy in a radius of about 60 miles.
about the process
Functions was composed and recorded during the 5 weeks between the 27th of July and the 5th of September.
All recordings were made at Lukas’ place.
We used a PC (2.4Ghz, 1GB RAM) with “Steinberg Cubase LE“ on it, a “Tascam US-144” external sound-card, and one “AKG CS1300” microphone for pretty much all the recordings.
Yup kids, one single microphone for the whole drum-kit.
(simple musician’s rule: more stuff costs more money)
We still kind of tried to make the trick with our highly flexible microphone-stand, lots of EQs and uh… wit?
Other software we occasionally used (and appreciated):
“Audacity”, “Audiomulch”.
„functions“ is a collection of rather short instrumental tracks
free of any static meaning or theme.
Still, the pieces are being held together by some mathematical/logical rules. (understanding them isn’t essential for enjoying the music, though)
The music’s main purpose is to wake the listener’s imagination and creativity, to inspire artists to create works that go hand-in-hand with the recordings.
Be it a collection of images, a video, interactive art or other music.
The music is absolutely free and we encourage everyone to share it (or even use it for his or her own projects).
The only condition for the recordings’ use in another project is that the creator should inform us about his work.
We are simply curious what others come up with.
So… why don’t you download the album (ca. 50mb large) and give it a listen?
We wish you a good time with the music!
